Leicester City defender Joe Mattock has officially signed for Championship rivals West Bromwich Albion for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £1.5million.

West Bromwich Albion have confirmed the capture of 19-year-old Mattock on their official website. Mattock made 73 appearances for City, scoring once in the 2-0 win at Yeovil Town last season.

City manager Nigel Pearson has alluded to his fury at the timing and nature of Mattock’s transfer request, made from abroad during Leicester’s 1-0 victory over Real Valladolid in pre-season.

Following an impressive display from Bruno Berner in the left-back berth on Saturday against Swansea City, many City fans will not be too sad to see Mattock leave and the hope will be that some of the money received will be re-invested in the squad.
