King – Win At All Costs

Midfielder Andy King has said there is no change of mentality in the camp ahead of the game against Burnley this weekend – it’s one game at a time and win at all costs as we bid to keep our current run of form going in the Premier League and secure our survival for the coming season.

Speaking to lcfc.com ahead of the game, King acknowledged how key a game it could be in the survival stakes because whichever team wins could potentially move out of the dropzone.

‘We`re in the bottom three and if someone had said that to us at the start of the season we wouldn`t have been pleased. But having been where we were, to have put the three wins together and given ourselves half a chance is massive. That`s why everyone is so confident and that`s why there`s such a good buzz around the place at the moment.’

King goes on to say that he doesn’t feel the mentality in the squad has changed all season, the difference is in recent weeks we have been finding the net, keeping the opposition out and making those fine margins work for us in games and of course that does really help with confidence and when you are truly confident things tend to fall more for you anyway.

“I don`t think our mentality has changed throughout the season. Ultimately we`re still in the bottom three at the moment and if the last game of the season was last week, we`d be relegated. We don`t want to be in the bottom three come the end of the season so it is a win at all costs situation for us at the moment. Whether that will continue between now and the end of the year, who knows. But we`ve got to take it one game at a time, and that`s what we`ll do on Saturday.’

We do however know how difficult Burnley will be having faced off against them last season as both of us won promotion, and earlier this year we played out a two all draw as they levelled at the death, and King knows this will be another battle that we have to be prepared for.

‘They did brilliantly last year and we know what they`re about. We`ve got to make sure we`re ready for that and the way they`re going to come at us. They`re a good team and we`ve got to be aware of that. We know if we go there and play like we have been playing of late, we`ve got enough to cause them problems and hopefully pick up another three points. They`re a good team and work hard for each other. They know what to do and are fully aware of the job in hand. They`re going to be trying to make it hard for us and we know they need the three points as much as us, so it`ll be a tough game.’
