Midfielder Andy King has been back in front of the press department today, saying that he doesn’t believe teams will want to face Leicester now that we are starting to back up our performances with good and solid results.

Having scored two in two at the weekend against Swansea City, Leicester have really given themselves a real chance of avoiding relegation now and King was quick to praise everybody in the squad for their efforts in turning this around.

Swansea also marked three wins on the bounce and moved us off the bottom of the table for the first time since November.

Speaking to lcfc.com he explained.

‘It doesn`t matter who scores the goals at any stage of the season. The main thing is that everyone is contributing and that was the case again against Swansea. Whether that be from the start or off the bench – the substitutes that came on were really good and positive. You can see everyone is pulling in the right direction and we`ve just got to keep this run going now.’

Having started the month seven points clear of safety and now only being in the dropzone on goal difference as we now sit level on points with Hull City and a point behind 16th place Sunderland, King went on to say that nobody could get carried away as the job isn’t done yet and in many ways it probably will go down to the last few matches of the season given how tight it is amongst a few clubs at the bottom.

‘The table doesn`t mean a lot if you`re still in the bottom three. It`s all about being outside of the bottom three come the last game of the season. There`s nothing else to it really. That`s the aim and we`re not there yet, so it`s back to it now and looking ahead to next weekend. With other teams seeing that we`ve won three on the spin now, it`s good. People will have known that we`re a good side all season, and now we`re turning those good performances into good results. There will be not many people fancying playing us at the moment.’

In a brief interview with manager Nigel Pearson, the Leicester Mercury also have quotes from him where he talks about the importance of Esteban Cambiasso in our run in.

With the highly decorated 34 year old growing in influence at the club as the season has progressed, Pearson revealed that he has been handed a deal to keep him at the club throughout next season but that’s simply on the table until Cambiasso is ready to discuss his future – the player himself is steadfast that we see the season out first and achieve survival.

Pearson explained that obviously survival helped our chances of keeping the midfielder.

‘We will have a much better chance of Esteban staying with us if City survive but we will have to see how it pans out. There were questions about Esteban’s contract situation and he said he would wait until the end of the season. As far as I’m concerned, that’s fine. I would be more than happy to continue to work alongside him. I’m sure that will take care of itself. We have to keep our eye on what is happening now.’

As for summer plans, Pearson went on to say that Cambiasso isn’t the only one being looked at, but that work is being done quietly behind the scenes and for now that’s how it will stay.

‘Behind the scenes, as there have been with other players, there will be discussions about contracts but we will keep that in-house. He made a few comments and said it would be a great achievement for him. Esteban is a very interesting character, he has been very good to work with and I have enjoyed that. Hopefully, that will continue.’

As well as Cambiasso over the summer, Leicester have nine players out of contract as we go into next season.

Marcin Wasilewski, Matt Upson, Paul Konchesky, Gary Taylor-Fletcher, Dean Hammond, Zoumana Bakayogo, Conrad Logan, Anthony Knockaert and Paul Gallagher and building on the words above, he went on to say that for those players we want to keep at the club talks are on track and going well.

‘As far as I know everything’s going pretty much to plan so far. I’m not involved in that process apart from talking about players I want to keep or not. We have a pretty satisfied, happy camp. The process of dealing with any contracts that are up will be done in private first. You know I don’t talk about that kind of stuff.’
