Leicester finally managed to get off the mark with a 3-1 win against a very flat Ipswich Town side. After taking an early lead Leicester never seemed threatened and although they conceded a goal late to make the fans panic a little, the result was never in question.

Paddy Kisnorbo started the scoring for Leicester after only 8 minutes with a bullet header from a Danny Tiatto free kick.

Stephen Hughes sparkled in the centre of midfield and was surprisingly the Leicester player who put in a few tough challenges leaving Ipswich players on the floor.

He added a second for Leicester five minutes into the second half. A poor headed clearance from an Ipswich defender fell at Hughes feet and he coolly placed the ball into the back of the net from the edge of the area.

Although Hughes gave Leicester a 2-0 lead, it was his mistake that gave Ipswich an opportunity to get back in the game.

Nils Eric Johansson lost the ball in his own half which resulted in a cross into the City box. Hughes was in the way and chested it down to volley it away. The only problem was his volley fell straight at Richards feet who via a deflection sent Henderson the wrong way.

With five minutes left Leicester fans started to get a little anxious and a few dodgy punches from Paul Henderson did not help matters. However, Leicester shouldn`t have been worried, and with full time approaching the bubbly Hume put the icing on the cake with a great finish, after being put through by a clever pass from Fryatt.

It shows that the Hume/Fryatt partnership hasn`t lost its connection from the end of last year and hopefully Hume`s goal will be one of many created by the front two this season.

Another positive for City fans is that for the third consecutive game Darren Kenton played in a different position and although he seemed a little shakey in the first 10 minutes he put in a solid performance and was constantly offering Low an option on the overlap.

At the final whistle both the players and the fans breathed a sigh of relief after finally tasting victory in the new season. Although Leicester fans were happy with all 3pts they would have been encouraged no matter what the result. Throughout the game Leicester seemed to show more promise going forward and more determination to win the ball back, which is all the Leicester fans expect from this young City squad.

Although the City result was a welcome one, some fans are still questioning if the score line was due to a good Leicester performance or a very poor Ipswich performance.

One thing is for sure with Leicester`s next game being against local rivals Coventry on Friday 18th July. City fans will be hoping that the players put in a similar amount of dedication as they did against Ipswich and hopefully this will mean City fans will be toasting another victory come the end of the game.
