Scunthorpe have missed out on the loan capture of Leicester centre-back Michael Morrison.

Iron boss Ian Baraclough had hoped to secure the services of the 22-year-old to help solve his defensive crisis, but has since been told Morrison is required at the Walkers Stadium.

“Michael was someone I asked about,” Baraclough told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

“It was indicated to me that he would be allowed to come out on loan, but they have since changed their mind.

“That’s an example of clubs being willing to let players go, the player wants to leave, but then they decide for the last six or seven games until the January window, they want to keep them.”

Scunthorpe already have City winger Dany N’Guessan on loan, but were keen to add Morrison to their squad with injuries to three key centre backs.

Tomorrow’s loan deadline day looks set to be one full of activity for Leicester manager Sven-Goran Eriksson tomorrow, despite completing the capture of West Brom striker Roman Bednar today.
