Queens Park Rangers is probably the last place that Leicester City would choose to go for a confidence uplift, judging on past results. But they go there tomorrow desperately needing victory.
Leicester have traditionally returned with the most meagre pickings from Loftus Road, losing on 16 of their 24 visits.
The last time City won there was 20 years ago, in 1986, by 1-0. They also won 4-1 in 1979, 3-1 in 1970 and there was the FA Cup quarter final in 1974 when Mark Waters scored twice in City’s 2-0 success.
Otherwise, apart from four draws, their away record against the Londoners is dismal.
Furthermore City have suffered eight successive away defeats, have only won once away all season and have failed to win on their last nine trips.
On their last visit Leicester lost a five-goal thriller 3-2 but one point of encouragement for City is that QPR have only scored five goals in their last six matches at home, and have conceded six.
They’ve still squeezed two wins and two draws from those five goals and are likely to be reasonably relaxed, being comfortably placed in mid-table with 39 points from 30 games compared with Leicester’s 26 points from 30.
