Leicester have completed the capture of Hibernian defender Sol Bamba.

Foxes chief Sven-Goran Eriksson knows the centre-back from his spell in charge of the Ivory Coast national team, and has called upon Bamba to help City’s struggling backline.

The fee is undisclosed but it is believed that Leicester parted with around £250,000 for the 25-year-old, who has been previously linked with moves to Premier League sides Blackburn and Fulham.

Bamba was a regular for his nation prior to the World Cup in South Africa this season, but was ironically dropped by Eriksson for the tournament.

But Eriksson has demonstrated his faith in the young defender’s abilities after a successful five-year stint in Scotland with Dunfermiline and Hibernian.

Bamba could be in City’s squad for the visit of Swansea on Monday afternoon, subject to international clearance.
