Leicester striker DJ Campbell looks set to leave the club on a permanent transfer to Blackpool today.

The 28-year-old was left out of City’s squad to face Reading on Saturday after revealing his discontent at the club, and now looks set to rejoin the club he helped gain promotion to the Premier League with last season on a permanent basis.

Sousa revealed that Blackpool had been in contact with the Foxes once again after a failed move for the striker at the beginning of the summer.

“Blackpool have made an approach and we will see,” he said.

“I have made my decision. The club knows my decision but I am not going to reveal that decision publicly.

“From the beginning, I have said DJ is an important player and he is full of energy.

“He started the season in good form, scoring goals and very happy.”

The deal is thought to be worth somewhere in the region of £1.5 million according to reports, funds which should help Sousa in his quest for new players after a terrible start to the Championship campaign.

The Foxes have been linked with a £2 million move for Sunderland striker and last season’s loanee Martyn Waghorn, with Sousa reportedly ready to test the resolve of Black Cats manager Steve Bruce before tomorrow.
