Former Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has said he believes Leicester City’s heavy victory over West Brom was thoroughly deserved given the efforts of the players.
Having fallen behind to an early Salomon Rondon goal at The Hawthorns, Iheanacho joined Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and Vicente Iborra on the scoresheet as we took a four one victory and he told lcfc.com in his own post game press conference that he felt the margin of victory was completely deserved on the day.
For Iheanacho himself, not only was he on the scoresheet for the first time in the Premier League since arriving at the club, he also set up Mahrez for his effort to grab the assist.
‘It was a good game. We really worked hard to get the game today. It was a good game for the whole team. We`ll now focus on the next games. I`ve been waiting so long for the goal and it came today so I`m happy and I`m looking forward to more goals to come. It was a good performance from the whole team. That`s what I need – to get involved and to help the team to get something out of the game. I got a great assist and a great goal today.’
With a warm weather training camp as we now prepare for the FA Cup quarter final against Chelsea, Iheanacho is in fine form in that competition with four goals to is name already and he’s obviously hoping that continues as we can take a step closer to Wembley.
‘We`re looking forward to playing against Chelsea. They`re a good side, a strong side. We`ll just keep working hard in training and we`ll be ready for them. We`ve had a hard time getting some draws. Today will give us a boost for the next game against Chelsea.’
‘We`re back to winning ways now. We just have to keep winning, keep strong and keep working hard to make sure we stick to those wins.’
