Wesolowski leg break confirmed

As broadly hinted at by Vitalfootball yesterday, it has now been officially confirmed tht midfielder James Wesolowski has broken his leg and will be out for the season.

Leicester City’s head physiotherapist, Dave Rennie said on the Official Site today: ‘The injury occurred when James was tackled from behind and his foot got caught in the pitch.

‘The fracture is located slightly below the position of his previous injury and it will essentially rule him out for the season.’

The loss of the almost talisman midfielder is a massive blow to the team.

But what a remarkable miniature chapter he might have written into the club’s history by emerging for such a brief spell to play in the run of three victories which may yet prove to have saved their Championship status.

Wesolowski, an 18-year-old Australian World Youth Cup representative originally broke his leg in a tackle with Balde during a pre-season friendly against Celtic.

Whether having a second break in the same leg will have implications for the time he will need to recover remains to be seen but caretaker manager Rob Kelly said: James has done fantastically well to break through to the first team and has been a real breath of fresh air for us.’

‘But he is in great hands here and I have no doubt he will come back from this. He has got a great mentality and attitude for a young player.’
