Nigel Pearson has announced that Wes Morgan will be the new club captain.

Speaking to lcfc.com about the experienced 28 year old, Pearson said.

‘Wes has shown great leadership qualities throughout his career and his experience and strength of character have been real assets to the squad since he joined us in January. I am sure he will thrive on the responsibility of leading the team next season.’

Responding to the honour of being named club captain, Morgan said.

‘It’s a tremendous honour and something I’m extremely proud to be asked to do, because there are a number of my team mates that would be just as capable of doing the job.’

Certainly a number of potential candidates to choose from, but thesedays the captain is just the figurehead of the club in many senses, and we’ve got leaders all over the park that should be stepping up this season.
