Sven Goran-Eriksson has completed his third signing for Leicester with the capture of free agent Darius Vassell.

Vassell has signed a deal which will keep him at the Walkers Stadium until the end of next season following his release from Turkish otufit Ankaragücü.

The 30-year-old made his name with Aston Villa in the Premier League, before making a £2million move to Manchester City in 2005.

It was Eriksson who handed Vassell his England debut in 2002 while at Villa, an international career which was sadly overshadowed by an infamous penalty miss in the Euro 2004 shoot-out with Portugal.

Vassell endured a difficult spell in Turkey with Ankaragücü last season, but will be looking to get his career back on track with the move to ambitious Leicester.

Eriksson knows the player well from his time in charge of the national team, also managing the player during his spell at Manchester City.
