Leicester City manager Claude Puel has confirmed that Jamie Vardy has returned to first team contention ahead of this weekend’s clash against Chelsea.

With Vardy missing out on a playing return to former club Fleetwood Town in the third round of the FA Cup, and prior to that the game against Huddersfield Town, Puel confirmed that he had now returned to training and been passed fit for the trip to Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to as he met with the media yesterday to discuss the upcoming game, Puel also said that Wes Morgan and Danny Simpson remained doubtful for the game with their injuries ongoing.

‘He will be available, there is no problem with Jamie. He has trained well this week and he`s available for the game.’

With both Morgan and Simpson having hamstring injuries, it was still too early to tell whether either or both would return in time for the game, but Puel felt both would likely miss this weekend but potentially be available for the next fixture, or the one after that, if all goes well.

Dealing with Morgan first, he explained.

‘I don`t know for the moment how long Morgan will stay out of the squad. When I have news – I hope good news – I can speak about the injury.’

As for Simpson.

‘Danny can run a little, not fast, but he can run which is good news. We`ll see when he can come back.’
