Well this was the news everybody was hoping for, England striker Jamie Vardy has rejected the move to Arsenal and re-committed his future to Leicester City.

With Arsenal enacting his release fee – said to be £20million – a few weeks back and the deal and his acceptance dragging on and on, it looked likely he wouldn’t be making the move and today that has been confirmed.

A statement on the official Leicester site earlier explained.

‘Leicester City have today (Thursday) agreed with the representatives of Jamie Vardy to extend the England international`s contract with the Premier League champions for a further four years. Both parties hope that this announcement will end recent speculation regarding Jamie`s future and confirm his long term commitment to Leicester City Football Club.’

So a new long term extension as well!

The statement went on to say that Vardy’s efforts and focus continued to be on England’s European Championship adventure and neither the club, nor the player himself, would make any further comment now on this issue until the end of the tournament.
