Jamie Vardy and Kasper Schmeichel have both looked back to our two one victory over Huddersfield Town.

Leicester took all three points in the game thanks to goals in the first half, before Huddersfield grabbed themselves a late equaliser – an own goal for each side as well added to the tension.

Both players were talking to lcfc.com.

Starting with striker Jamie Vardy, he said that he was obviously delighted to grab the opening goal in the encounter, but it shows how key home form is this campaign and he’d be utterly delighted if Leicester could maintain our current record – or at least close to it – for the remainder of the season.

With seven games played at the King Power so far, we have drawn one and secured six consecutive victories.

‘Like I’ve said before, we’ve been making it hard work but if we have to take two one wins we’ll do it every single week, and if it gets us promoted then everybody will be happy with it. You need to make your home stadium a fortress, and we’re managing to do that, we’re getting results and you can see fans are behind us aswell.’

Vardy adds that he was pleased to see Leicester come out of the blocks to quick as we really upset Huddersfield’s own game plan and they found it very difficult to get to grips with us on the day, and for the neutral he feels it would’ve been a fantastic end to end encounter, but for Leicester all that matters is the three points ultimately.

As for Kasper, he focused on the positives from our defending as we nullified every attack Huddersfield made on the day and only conceded via an unfortunate own goal, so he was pleased to see our defensive resilience continue for another game in the league.

Fans may have wondered if our defence would’ve performed like that with the injury to Ritchie De Laet, which saw Liam Moore take the right back berth and new signing Marcin Wasilewski start for the first time alongside Wes Morgan.

For himself, Schmeichel’s own performance also certainly put to bed the error against Doncaster and he explained that he dropped it from his mind as soon as the game finished, as he knows he can’t let things like that fester in him as a goalkeeper.

‘I didn’t give it a second thought. That’s life and it happens. Straight after the game it was gone because I couldn’t do anything about it. It was a good win against Huddersfield. It was very pleasing, we probably made it a little too tight for ourselves, but give their goalkeeper credit, he made some good saves. They got a lucky deflection for their goal. But we found the resilience we have been looking for and I think this season we have been quite good at seeing games out.’

Schmeichel also pulled of a few key saves himself, but ever humble, he just said that’s what he’s there to do and that’s what the club pays him to do so he’s not going to take any special credit for it, preferring instead to talk about Moore’s versatility for one so young, and describing Wasilewski as a ‘man mountain’ and a good addition to the side as he knows those in front of him will make his life easier.
