The signing of Aleksandar Tunchev has been confirmed, with a three-year contract agreed for an undisclosed amount. All of this is of course subject to a work permit being issued, which shouldn’t be an issue as he is a regular in the Bulgarian side.

Plenty of clubs throughout Europe were believed to be chasing the defender, but the Walkers is his preferred destination, with a fee of around £800,000 thought to have been paid to CSKA Sofia even though it has officially been undisclosed.

He becomes Nigel Pearson’s fourth signing of the summer, and as he told lcfc.co.uk this is quite a coup for us ‘This is a major transfer coup for us and we are delighted to welcome Alex to the club.
‘He is strong and experienced and will be an excellent addition to our squad.’

This is a real sign of intent that we are looking to fulfil the Milan Mandaric dream of not only an instant return to the Championship, but also playing in the Premier League again in the not to distant future as not many League One clubs will shell out a vast amount of money on one player, as it looks like we have here.
