Toughest test so far

Leicester had their toughest test so far this pre season after they had to fight back from 3-0 down for a draw against Lincoln City.

Leicester City did not turn up in the first half and saw themselves 3-0 down at the half time whistle. Lee Franklington started the scoring for Lincoln when Rab Douglas could only parry Franklington`s tame 25 yard shot over his own head into the net.

Scott Kerr then put the Imps 2-0 up six minutes later, when he walked through the city defence and slotted past Douglas.

Douglas` day went from bad to worse when he brought down Mark Stallard for a penalty. Jamie Forrester stepped up to score the penalty and give Lincoln a deserved lead going into the break.

Rob Kelly decided to make a few vital changes and substituted the embarrassing Rab Douglas for the young Conrad Logan. He also substituted Ian Hume for Elvis Hammond, linking Hammond up with Chris O`Grady, which so far in pre season has looked Leicester`s most dangerous attacking line up.

The substitutions paid off almost instantly with Hammond and O`Grady linking up in the 48th minute for O`Grady to score from close range.

Only a couple of minutes later and Leicester had pulled the score back to 3-2. Again Hammond and O`Grady linked up well, with O`Grady repaying the favour and setting up Hammond from a cross.

Leicester finally managed to bring the tie back to 3-3 with an own goal from Phil Watts in the 79th minute, after Momo Sylla had delivered a dangerous cross into the box.

Leicester simply didn`t perform in the first half, but fans can take the positives from a good fight back from the team in the second half. The draw means that Leicester still haven`t lost in pre season. Their final meaningful game will be against Real Sociedad at the Walkers Stadium this Friday (28th July 2006).

Let’s hope this means that Douglas will not be starting games this season! Sounds too familiar – bringing players down in the box and letting in tame shots!

I normally stick up for Big Rab but i think this might be the final nail!

Isn’t it crazy that we are now talking about Fryatt & Hume not even starting the first game of the season, 2 months ago this would have been unthinkable.

What a fantastic situation we find ourselves in!!
