Tigana in talks, Wigan target Jewell

Ex-Fulham boss Jean Tigana is rumoured to have held talks with chairman Milan Mandaric regarding the manager’s vacancy at The Walkers.

Tigana is a free agent after leaving Turkish side Besiktas in May this year, his 2 year stint included winning the Turkish Cup in 2007.

Tigana however will probably be best remember by English fans as the man who took Fulham into the Premiership for the first time and then on into Europe. A fallout with the board and a legal case over misfit striker Steve Marlet marked the end for the popular manager who represented France alongside Michel Platini.

It remains to be seen whether Tigana is interested in a return to English football, but his name may come as a relief to fans unable to come to terms with the prospect of Peter Reid at the helm.

Paul Jewell

One man who would be welcome by many at The Walkers is Paul Jewell.

The ex-Wigan boss les his side and previously Bradford to the Premiership and stayed there amongst all the odds.

Part of Jewell’s departure from the club was based on an enforced 6 month layoff from football, a period which is now almost up. Unfortunately Wigan parted with Hutchings earlier this week and are keen for Jewell to come back.

Would Jewell go back to Wigan?

But would Jewell want to go back, sure Wigan are a Premiership outfit, but he must have had his reasons for leaving at the end of last season.

A new start with a well supported club (City got 24,133 against Barnsley compared to Wigan’s 19,011 against Chelsea!) could be the challenge that Jewell is looking for.

City fans will have to wait and see as Milan wants his man in in time for Burnley on Saturday.
