David Nugent has said that knowing Sven ‘wants’ him has made all the different to his confidence since joining the club.

Speaking to the Leicester Mercury Nugent explained that he didn’t feel wanted at Portsmouth until the last season where he played every game, but now his confidence is back up and he knows Sven wants him involved at the club, he thinks that has made all the difference to his form levels.

‘It makes me feel wanted when I hear the manager has said good things about me. It gives you confidence and I think I have done well. With all the experience the gaffer has, for him to say that is really pleasing, hopefully, I can repay him.’

Nugent also is pleased with how the team are starting to shape up on the pitch, and whilst we’ve maintained our ability to find the net, the whole team – especially the boys at the back – are defending our net with far more success.

‘At the start of the season we were scoring but conceding too, now we are keeping clean sheets, the way the defence play it does allow us more confidence. I think we can all start chipping in with a few goals.’
