Sean St. Ledger is out to impress the new boss, and he’s said training has gone up a notch this week as everybody is looking for a place in the team.

Speaking to lcfc.com ahead of the Palace game, St. Ledger said the whole squad had been out to impress new manager Nigel Pearson in training this week, as non of them want to be out of the squad. Of course, with St. Ledger on international duty, he’s only had Friday and Saturday to stake his own claim for this weekend.

‘That’s always the case when a new manager comes in, I think everyone tries that little bit harder. The manager seems good, he has a presence about him and he is very commanding when he walks into a room, so I’ve been very impressed with him.’

With Bamba suspended, St. Ledger could possibly find himself straight into the team today, and he wouldn’t argue with that.

‘I’m full of confidence from what happened over the international break, hopefully this will see me get my chance.’
