Swansea City manager Paulo Sousa’s odds to replace the outgoing Nigel Pearson have shortened yet again today.

The Swans chief was 5/4 favourite to take the reins at the Walkers Stadium yesterday, but has now emerged as a runaway 4/11 odds-on candidate for the top job.

Sousa is some way ahead of second faourite Brendan Rogers for the post.

Leicester would have to pay compensation should they wish to bring the Portuguese manager to the club, but with outside investment a growing possibility, this may not be an issue.

Local bookmakers Mark Jarvis said: “The word on the street is that Paulo is the man for Milan and that’s reflected in his odds,’

“I think the problem the fans have at the moment is that they don’t know to what extent these potential investors will be involved.

“They don’t know if they are looking at a complete takeover or just playing some part in the club’s future with Mandaric still at the helm.”

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins yesterday claimed that there had been no contact with Leicester about Sousa’s availablity.

Several names have been thrown around in the last two days as to who will replace Pearson at the helm, but as of yet nothing concrete has been established.

Chairman Milan Mandaric is currently on a safari holiday, but is due to return soon to finalise the search for his new manager.

Sousa was reportedly a guest of Mandaric’s at Leicester’s play-off semi-final tie with Cardiff at the tail-end of last season, suggesting that relations between the pair are already comfortable.

If Sousa does come to you at Leicester then be prepared for boring negative football full of caution. He won’t play outside his strict statistical style, insisting that free-flowing attacking players are forced to track back. He stifled our midfield last season, particularly Pratley and Britton, forcing them to play too deep. I for one won’t be sorry to see the back of him…… Swans fan.

Sousa will build your team for the back. You will sit though 0-0 after 0-0 after 0-0- but the 1-0 wins and the draws win earn you the vital points you need – QPR fan
