Q & A with Millwall

1) So, a quick summary of your season so far?

Results very encouraging. Style of football – good. Defence excellent. Strike force – lacking. So far, exceeded all my expectations.

2) Do you believe the team have what it takes to make promotion this season? Automatically even?

I think that automatic is probably out of range.

Could achieve it via the play-offs, but we have a terrible play-off record and a very inexperienced team.

3) Kenny Jackett’s been at the club a little while now, are you still happy with him in charge?

Yes – although we don’t like to admit it, we are a small club who needs a manager who can identify and bring on talented young players. KJ has proved he has these qualities.

4) Which player should we be looking out for from your Millwall side?

Defensively Zak Whitbread – sheer class and much too good for Division 1.

Attack wise: probably James Henry (on loan from Reading), but I’ll be interested to see how he copes with big game nerves.

Ashley Grimes may shock you if he gets onto the pitch!

5) And who should we be looking to exploit?

Fairly confident of the back 5, so hopefully you won’t be able to exploit our defence.

6) Which player in League One has impressed you most so far this season?

This season – nobody in particular, although Hooper of Scunthorpe took his goals well.

7) What are your realistic hopes for the future?

This season – play-offs.

Next season

If promoted – a long and difficult season ending with relegation.

If not promoted – Automatic promotion.

Long-Term: Unless we get our academy back, Championship/Div 1 yo-yoing.

8) Finally, match prediction?

Honours even – one apiece.
