Manager Nigel Pearson has been blunt after our one nil loss to Shrewsbury in the second round of the Capital One Cup last night and admitted we didn’t deserve anything from the game.

Speaking to lcfc.com following a very below par showing, but he wasn’t going to blame our debutants, as the rest of the squad didn’t do enough.

‘It was a poor performance from us at a time when whichever side we put out, I think we should have progressed. We didn’t do enough and that’s disappointing. What is does mean is that the players must understand that the level of performance and application we’ve shown in the two games so far, where we’ve been exceptional, is the baseline for how we go about this season.’

Pearson goes on to say that when you have disappointing results, you simply have to learn from it and use it as an experience and motivation to not let it happen again, and he’s made his thoughts very clear to the players on show last night when it comes to what he expects and demands from them and where they didn’t match that in the game.

‘Shrewsbury are a side that have started well and deserved to win the game. I’ve not qualms about saying that. But of course my own concern is our performance and how we go about playing the games we play.’
