Nigel Pearson will wait on a late fitness test from Jermaine Beckford who is still struggling with a tight hamstring.

Speaking to the Leicester Mercury Pearson admitted the player was still suffering with the hamstring and it was a case of a bit of kid gloves to ensure we didn’t lose the player for longer by over working him.

‘Jermaine’s hamstring was a bit tight so we decided not to take any chances. We could do without any more injuries, but we do have players who will come back into consideration for Middlesbrough but we will see how the players are.’

Beckford hasn’t trained fully yet, but Pearson is confident on him. Lee Peltier also hasn’t trained fully with a minor ankle injury and with Delfouneso back in contention (Villa blocked him playing in the Cup) it’s likely Tom Hopper will have to wait a bit longer following his debut.
