Nigel Pearson has said following the 2-1 loss that he can’t fault the players for their effort, but he’s disappointed to not take anything from the game.

Speaking to lcfc.com after the game the gaffer said.

‘I can’t fault the players. It’s disappointing to lose, but that’s football. They battled and their application was good, but we just got caught at the end. I’m not going to use the sending off as an excuse.’

On such a disappointing day, Pearson paid credit to the fans.

‘They were tremendous. We are very fortunate to have a huge fanbase and their support is appreciated by the staff and players.’
