Emerging striker Eric Odhiambo pinched a last-minute match-winner for Leicester City’s youthful reserves team against local rivals Coventry at Hinckley tonight.

Odihiamo, a handful throughout the second half after replacing Ashley Chambers, linked up with Ryan Beswick before beating a defender and clinically firing the winner.

It had seemed that Leicester would pay for squandering a two goal lead.

They had gone ahead shortly after half-time when right winger Max Gradel maintained his goal-a-game habit for a third match by netting with a follow-up shot after defender Stuart Wall had blocked his first effort.

Just after the hour, Louis Dodds converted a penalty to make it 2-0 after Eric Odhiambo had been brought down as he burst through on goal.

Coventry were swift to reply.

First they scored with a scrambled effort by Vijay Sidhu which bounced off a post and was ruled to have crossed the line despite City goalkeeper Alex Cisak’s efforts to save.

Then a poor defensive header allowed substitute Loroughnon to equalise with an excellent volley on his Reserves debut. He later struck the woodwork with another of several chances.

Leicester might have had a second penalty for a foul on substitute Ryan Beswick before Odhiambo’s winner delighted City fans among the 538 spectators and gave virtually the same Leicester team that beat Coventry’s Academy side on Saturday a Premier Reseves League win over the Sky Blues tonight.

Coventry’s Reserves had not lost for three months and, in truth City were probably lucky to reach half-time level.

Coventry hit the woodwork through top scorer Craig Reid when Cisak got in a terrible tangle after getting caught outside his box but he made amends with two top class saves.

Leicester did find the net close to half-time when Ashley Chambers pounced on an attempted header back to Ince but the ‘goal’ was ruled out for a foul on the keeper as he attempted to clear.

City: Cisak, Lycett, Wykes, Porter, Norval, Franklin, Gradel, King (Beswick 85), Chambers (Odhiambo 45), Dodds, Muggleton (Mattock 83).

Coventry: Ince, Bains, Lynch, wAll, Turner, Hildreth, Ogarro, Webb (Loroughnan 52), Davis, Sidhu (McCrink 19), Reid.
