It’s being reported today that Liverpool have not made an approach for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez.

Press speculation about the 26 year old’s future continues with the January transfer window open, but an unnamed relative has told Algerian news outlet Le Buteur that no approaches have been made for the player, and he’s not even in the country as he’s enjoying a short break.

Reports had suggested that Liverpool had already agreed a deal for the player and he was due to sign the contract when he returned to England from Dubai, but the Leicester Mercury reference sources close to Liverpool who have also now rubbished the suggestions of a deal being done.

The unnamed relative did however confirm that Mahrez wanted an exit, but they felt if a deal was to be done – with Leicester holding true to the promise of a club meeting their valuation – it would be at the tail end of the window.

They also confirmed that Mahrez wouldn’t force the issue this month.
