Leicester City skipper Wes Morgan has praised the side for digging deep to take a second Champions League victory this midweek against FC Porto.

Hosting the side at the King Power Stadium for our first home European tie in midweek, an Islam Slimani goal was enough to win the match and take maximum points in Group G so far this year.

Speaking to lcfc.com in his own post game press conference, Morgan was obviously thrilled with the victory.

‘It was a fantastic night for everyone involved with Leicester City. The fans were amazing tonight. You could really feel the energy from the crowd and that translated into the team. We worked really hard and it wasn`t an easy game but we came out victorious and that`s the main thing. When you face a side like Porto, they`re very experienced and organised. We knew it wasn`t going to be easy. We had to weather the storm, especially in the second half. They really came out at us and we had to dig deep. I think that just shows our character that we saw the game out and kept a clean sheet.’

With Slimani helping himself to three goals in four appearances so far and seemingly settling in immediately following his arrival from Sporting Lisbon, the Algerian Dragon Slayer continued his own form against Porto – finding the net again.

‘He`s a presence up there and works hard. He can hold the ball up and win balls in the air. He`s very good with his head and that`s shown with the three goals he`s scored so far. He`s definitely an asset to the team and if he keeps putting in performances like that, everyone will be happy. He works hard and he`s always in your face. He causes defenders trouble and makes them think, so he`s a nightmare to defend against.’

Long may Slimani’s form continue!
