New signing Matt Mills has admitted he was honoured to be handed the captain’s armband for our game against Bursaspor.

Speaking to the Leicester Mercury after he completed a 65 minute debut in our 0-0 draw, he said he was delighted to finally take to the field after a toe injury, and that the debut was made even more special by being selected as captain.

‘The captaincy was given to me just before the game and it’s a fantastic honour. To come to a new club and to be given that on my debut made me delighted.’

Mills added that he certainly would not be against being named club captain should the manager wish to do that, as he has the obvious experience from his Reading spell.

‘There has been no talk about who is going to be captain, we have some fantastic players on the pitch who are leaders. That is something the manager will decide, but if I get it, it would be fantastic. It’s a huge honour, I don’t underestimate that.’
