Northern Ireland international Gareth McAuley completed his move from the Foxes to Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee earlier today.

This comes after reports yesterday that McAuley had taken a medical at Portman Road and that Jim Magilton had finally got his man.

The undisclosed fee was reported yesterday to be around £1.5 million but now more around the region of £1.2 million.

McAuley, who arrived at the Walkers Stadium on a free transfer from Lincoln City during the summer of 2006 has been a rock at the back for Leicester and one of the true performers during last season in which City were relegated.

The centre-half, had played a total of 84 times during his time at City and in that period contributing 7 goals.

On the situation, City chairman Milan Mandaric was quoted as saying: ‘Gareth came to see me last week and told me of his desire to leave the club, we would have liked Gareth to assist us in our quest for promotion next season but his wish was to play elsewhere’

Mandaric also acknowledged the achievements of McAuley: ‘He has been an excellent servant to the club during his two years at The Walkers Stadium and we wish him all the best for the future.’

From all City fans, we wish Gazza all the best in the future with Ipswich and where ever else it may lead and with Northern Ireland.
