March Was Good For Leicester City

|

Leicester City had four games across the month of March when you include the FA Cup defeat to Chelsea in the sixth round of the competition, but Premier League clashes returned seven points from a potential nine as we took victories over Brighton and West Bromwich Albion, with Bournemouth securing a draw at the beginning of the month.

In recognition of that, Leicester feature in the monthly Premier League awards.

Manager Claude Puel has been shortlisted for the Manager of the Month gong and he finds himself up against Sean Dyche, Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho for the award.

Jamie Vardy’s volley in the game against West Bromwich Albion sees him nominated for the Goal of the Month award, and he’s joined on that shortlist by teammate Riyad Mahrez in recognition of his strike against Bournemouth.

Leicester also receive a nod at Premier League 2 level as Harvey Barnes sees himself featured in the five man shortlist for Player of the Month at that level.

The Premier League explained.

‘Barnes produced two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over Liverpool that meant Leicester City replaced the Reds at the top of Division 1. The 20-year-old also helped the Foxes reach the PL Cup quarter-finals by beating Southampton by the same scoreline.’
