It was being reported yesterday evening that Leicester City had now agreed a deal in principle with Manchester City for youngster Kelechi Iheanacho.

Sky Sports were reporting last night that ‘sources’ had indicated the deal was agreed in principle and could see a fee of rising to £25million agreed for the 20 year old.

There are contractual issues to still sort out though, such as whether or not there will be a buy back clause in the deal which it’s rumoured City want and Sky suggest that Iheanacho needs to resolve a dispute over image rights with his former agent before a new deal can be signed – so it will be a number of days yet but possibly done by the weekend.

They say there’s a ‘willingness’ on all sides to get a deal done so it’s just about finalising the specifics now, with the player himself very keen on switching to the King Power.

The Leicester Mercury were also reporting yesterday that if we got a deal for Iheanacho over the line, Islam Slimani would be made available as we looked to balance our spending.

Having come in for a record breaking £30million last summer from Sporting Lisbon, the 29 year old only scored eight times in 29 appearances for us last season and they suggest that Craig Shakespeare sees Iheanacho as a better option alongside Jamie Vardy.

With Slimani’s future now potentially in doubt, and with it looking likely that Leonardo Ulloa would be off as well, that would leave Shinji Okazaki for competition.
