It was being reported late yesterday evening that Leicester City had rejected an offer for Riyad Mahrez from Manchester City and that he has seen another transfer request rejected as well.

The BBC reported last night that they understood that Manchester City had offered £50million for the player, but with it falling short of our valuation of him, it was rejected out of hand.

They also state that Mahrez himself handed in a transfer request but this was also rebuffed as we have no interest in selling him this window.

It appears City’s hand has been forced in making the bid for the 26 year old Algerian as manager Pep Guardiola confirmed yesterday that Leroy Sane would be out for six or seven weeks with a ligament injury and with Gabriel Jesus also out injured, their attacking options are limited at the moment.

It could be an interesting day for Mahrez, but with City withdrawing interest in Alexis Sanchez over the figures being asked for, it might not be wise for Mahrez to be sitting at an airport this time round as he reportedly did in Paris at the end of August.
