Leicester City centre half Harry Maguire has said nobody will be underestimating Sheffield United when we face them in the FA Cup this weekend.

We host Chris Wilder’s impressive side at the King Power Stadium on Friday evening for the FA Cup fifth round tie, and even though Maguire is coming up against his former side, his focus is on ensuring we put ourselves through to the next round.

Speaking to lcfc.com as he met with the media this week to preview the game, he explained.

‘Obviously, it`s a big game for myself to come up against a team that I`ve played for. I keep in touch with a lot of the players and know a lot of the players and staff so it`s a game that I wanted when the draw came along. Frankly, it was Hull or Sheffield United, they were both in the hat. To draw Sheffield United at home is a big game. It`s a big game for the team in a great cup that we want to go far in.’

Whilst promising fans that nobody was taking the tie lightly, he was expecting United to put up a tough test given how they have quickly adjusted to life back in the second tier following the League One title last season. The attack mantra employed by Wilder has them more than up there in the battle for the Play Off spots.

‘It`s one of the biggest English competitions. When you`re growing up and watching football, you always dream of lifting that trophy and it`s a big competition. People play it down sometimes but in my eyes it`s a competition that I definitely want to win in my career. Hopefully, we can go on a cup run and we`ll see where it takes us this year.’

With almost a decade at Bramall Lane, Maguire clearly has an affinity with them but for 90 minutes that goes out the window, regardless of how much he feels he owes them.

‘When I was around 10 years-old, my dad used to take me to a couple of games but I`ve played for them ever since I was 11 years-old. I was a ball boy week in, week out Bramall Lane from when I was 14 until 16 or 17. Then, I broke in and made my debut. I definitely follow Sheffield United now. It`s a great club and I thank them a lot because they`ve done so much for my career.’

Maybe proof read before posting? When you cut and paste from other people’s articles you should check where you’re cutting off. Some of the second half of your article makes little sense without the context of the original.

Cheers for the nod, even the professionals make errors so I’m humble enough to know I make mistakes. But then again I didn’t copy and paste from somebody else’s article…quotes are fair game and the context of his quotes when it comes to his affection for United doesn’t change because he was answering some banter from Vardy. Unless you’re criticising the club’s coverage of his quotes as well which would seem spurious.
