It was being reported yesterday that Leicester had struck a deal with Chester to sign young centre half Sam Hughes.

The Daily Mail were reporting that a transfer fee of £125,000 has been agreed for the 20 year old and it was expected he would sign a three year deal with us shortly.

Swansea City, Crystal Palace and Barnsley are credited with having an interest in him and it’s said that Barnsley had an £80,000 offer rejected in January for his services.

Having made his debut and had a breakthrough year with 19 appearances and two goals back in 2015/16, he certainly kicked on last season scoring three times in 36 games for Chester and he even captained them at points during the year.

I can’t say I know anything about the chap but for his age he’s got good game time so hopefully one for the future.

Leicester have agreed the fee with Chester despite him being out of contract simply to avoid a tribunal as they would’ve been entitled to training compensation given age.
