Leicester remained in the goals again on Saturday as City’s pre-season carried on with a 4-1 win at Rockingham Road, home of Kettering.

City gaffer Nigel Pearson gave the majority of his first-team squad some part of the match, which saw Matty Fryatt open the scoring early, as he made the most of a defensive mix-up. Summer arrival Nicky Adams added a second before Brett Solkhon brought Kettering back into the match, but City’s two-goal lead was restored before half time as Adams scored his second of the day.

DJ Campbell added the fourth in the second half and City could have scored more goals but the large band of travelling City fans would have been pleased with what they saw. New loan signing Jack Hobbs, who signed from Liverpool in a season-long loan on Friday, played 75 minutes.

We are now less than two weeks away from the start of the League One season, and Pearson must be happy with how things are shaping up so far. Pre-season continues with Birmingham coming to the Walkers Stadium on Tuesday.
