Leicester Man Should Join Vardy At The World Cup

|

Leicester City fans believe that one reliable first team member should be given a shot by England manager Gareth Southgate for the upcoming Russian World Cup.

Former Aston Villa man Marc Albrighton continues to impress this season having joined us as a free agent back in the summer of 2014. He has 120 starting appearances to his name in our shirt and his substitute showings see him sitting on the 150 appearance milestone.

With ten goals returned in those games, he carries with him a slice of history having scored our first ever effort in the Champions League. It’s his assist record that really stands out and truly shows his worth to us though.

He sits in seventh place in the overall Premier League table for assists in 2017/18 having set up seven goals this campaign, but if you limit that table to English assisters, he moves up into third place, sitting behind Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli and Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling.

At Leicester, he sits behind only Riyad Mahrez in the assist charts.

His four years with us at the King Power have seen him create a total of 32 goals.

With his reliability, especially in light of the injury sustained by Liverpool’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Leicester fans are adamant he deserves a World Cup shot given his efforts this season.

High praise indeed for a man who often flies under the radar owing to his professional attitude.
