Some fans are asking if Leicester City have scored an own goal with their new matchday flag and season ticket campaign slogan ‘We’re In it Together.’

They fear that away team supporters will have the perfect mickey-taking opportunity when Leicester are losing.

Website poster Frytonight said: ‘Put the concept of 20,000 fans being ‘in it together’ and you can imagine what sort of stuff will be flying around if Leicester go a goal or two down or are struggling in the table.’

City followers seem to like the flag which measures 15 metres by 10 metres and was held up by fans at the Reading game.

But it’s the ‘We’re In It Together’ slogan and concept, which is being used for the 2006/07 Season Ticket campaign, launched on Friday, which is causing the concern.

Yaxx of Foxestalk said: Heaven help us, what berk came up with that one?

‘The flag was a great idea (though only if the crowd is big enough to do it justice), but surely the powers that be could have at least had the savvy to make it ‘We all stand together’?

‘You can just see the headlines/abuse now if we lose……’

Melton Fox on Talking Balls said: ‘I think if we were to pass around a super sized Gorgonzola, Edam, Brie, Cheddar & Stilton selection, it wouldn’t be as cheesy as a ‘We’re in it together’ slogan.

I haven’t got a problem with the flag, I like the idea. I hate the slogan, it’s pretentious and it stinks of ‘look, my clubs in the **** ( or mire). Please help me get out of it, if we don’t I am holding you fans partly responsible. After all, we are in it together’

Redditch Fox added: “The point has been made, the club emblem is enough, why cheapen it with patronising slogans. Where are you Foxes Trust?”

But the Foxes Trust were equally bemused and said they had:

‘No idea they were coming up with this new strapline. Disappointed we weren’t asked our views.’

The flag is intended to be passed over fans heads before every home game and a Leicester City spokesman said on the official website: ‘We hope it will become part of the culture here.

‘In recent weeks it has been so noticeable how the bond between the fans and the players has developed and the ‘We’re In It Together’ concept just seemed right.’
