Leicester City’s youngster will again be competing in the Hong Kong Soccer Sevens tournament this May.

Leicester are the Main Cup holders going into the competition following our exploits last season and we have now won the competition twice since debuting in 2012 and it’s become a good showcase for our youngsters and no doubt will again be just that between May 18-20.

Members of the development squad will again take to the intense three day seven a side format but Group stage opposition and fixtures are yet to be confirmed.

Academy manager Ian Cawley told lcfc.com upon confirmation of our appearance this year.

‘Leicester City Football Club is looking forward to attending this year`s HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens. Over previous seasons, the Club has enjoyed magnificent success in Hong Kong, notably winning the Main Cup in 2013 and 2017. As such, we are delighted to be returning to Happy Valley this year to defend our crown and to compete against some of the most exciting talent from across the globe.’

He added.

‘Following our success last May, the Development Squad have impressed domestically and the opportunities provided by the HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens are always of an extremely high standard. The demands of the tournament, its unique format and the challenges posed all contribute to a thrilling and useful week of competition for our young players.’
