Leicester City have today confirmed the arrival of former Real Madrid academy player Luis Hernandez from Sporting Gijon.

Speculation linking us with the 27 year old centre half has been on going for a number of weeks, saying we had a pre contract arrangement in place and with his deal at Gijon ending at the end of the month, Leicester have today confirmed that he has signed a four year deal effective from July 1.

Having come through Real Madrid’s youth set up, he now has almost 140 appearances to his name in La Liga with his former side.

He does join as a free transfer and he will bring good experience with him ahead of our Champions League campaign and obviously additional cover in the backline with the extra games we have to play.

He now joins up with the squad when they return for pre season training next month and fans could get their first sight of him in the International Champions Cup friendlies against Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Celtic.
