Last Den win a distant memory

Not a single member of Leicester City’s likely team had been born when the club last won an away match against Saturday’s Championship opponents, Millwall.

Leicester have not beaten Millwall at The Den since Alistair Brown scored the only goal nearly 37 years ago in 1969/70.

Even Rab Douglas wasn’t born until 1972 and the only City squad member alive at the time was Rufus Brevett, who was a newborn baby of six days old.

Of 13 away League games against the Londoners, Leicester have won only four times and it is 12 away games since that Ally Brown victory.

Leicester manager Rob Kelly might consider it the perfect incentive to know that, statistically at least, he has very little chance of victory.

After all, Leicester gained their first away win at QPR in 20 years and also improved poor away records at Brighton and Luton when Kelly arrived in town.

And, there have been good away days at Millwall, the best being the first ever clash between the clubs when Leicester won an FA Cuptie by 6-3.

One perhaps surprising statistic given Millwall’s position at the top of the indisciplinary League table is that, of the 10 red-cards issued in Leicester/Millwall fixtures, seven were collected by Leicester.

Danny Tiatto’s was the most recent for Leicester in the 1-1 home draw last Boxing Day.
