Despite all the rumours and talk of transfer requests, Kasper Schmeichel has said he’s as committed as ever to Leicester City as he heads into his third year with us.

The Denmark international has been very impressive between the sticks since joining us from Leeds and the 26 year old has dismissed all the recent speculation by telling lcfc.com.

‘It’s been a strange summer, coming to terms with what happened to the team at the end of last season and not getting much of a break due to internationals, but there has never been a thought in my mind that I wouldn’t be coming back to Leicester. I’ve said many times before that I enjoy playing for this club, I enjoy coming to work every day and I want to be successful here.’

Schmeichel said of the speculation that has come out in the press so far this summer ‘it’s just ridiculous. I’ve never said I wanted to leave.’

Adding that although he obviously wants to be successful, he wants to achieve that at the club and his focus is on the coming season and putting the right the wrongs from our last campaign so we can achieve our aim at this time of asking after what he described as a ‘painful’ end to last season.

Schmeichel returns to pre season training during our training camp at Austria in mid July.

A club spokesperson added with regard to the speculation.

‘The Club wishes to reiterate that he has not requested a transfer, is not for sale and remains a committed and key member of Nigel Pearson’s squad.’
