Bit of a bizarre one this – Spanish media are reporting that N’Golo Kante has now been officially offered to Real Madrid.

The report from them on Sunday largely seems like a major rehash of every other single Kante rumour we have heard so far this summer, and the only slightly new piece of information offered is purely speculative and exists in the form of Kante being identified by their head coach Zinedine Zidane as being competition for Casemiro.

The rest of the report simply repeats what a great season Kante had, the improved season Casemiro had, and suggests that as well as competition they could easily play alongside each other if required.

We then get talk of 25.5million Euro release clauses and how Real Madrid would not struggle to find a sum like that, and it also says Kante’s arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu wouldn’t effect their supposed move for Juventus’ Paul Pogba.

Amazingly at absolutely no point in the article does it address ‘who’ has supposedly offered Kante to the club.

So basically it’s about getting Real Madrid into a headline and presenting unqualified internet speculation as news and fact – we’re getting used to that now though after lifting the title aren’t we.
