Leicester City Chief Executive Officer Tim Davies has responded angrily to criticism of the club’s procedures in trying to find a manager.
Former manager Chris Kamara, writing for Sky Sports.com in an article headlined ‘Foxes Hunt is a disgrace’ said what Leicester did was ‘shocking’ and that they had ‘gone about things in a completely wrong way’.
But it was the middle one of three paragraphs of his column which particularly incensed the Leicester chief…
Kamara wrote:
‘If you need a manager, you do not ask Burnley for permission to speak to Steve Cotterill, then ask QPR if it’s OK to speak to Ian Holloway and then go to Luton to see if you can speak to Mike Newell.
‘You have a board meeting, you single out your preferred target and then you make your approach to the football club. or to the manager’s agent.
‘Of course, you have a plan B and even plan C in place in case the one you want doesn’t come off, but you do not go and sound out all three clubs about talking to their managers.
But Mr Davies responded in an email to a Foxestalk poster:
‘I think it is outrageous – he is telling us to make illegal approaches – we have followed all guidelines/FA regulations – all jobs have a shortlist for a job of such importance – also we have not once commented publicly. It has been done by clubs themselves.
‘Perhaps Chris does not have full facts.’
Fans have been vehement on various Leicester City websites in their condemnation of the article.

Usually it is done with the club choosing their top choice for manager ,then interviewing him, before asking to speak to other candidates. I guess Kamara’s angry with City cos the way its been done has contributed to Holloway losing his job.
I find it hard to believe that anyone with any knowledge of football could write such an article like “Foxes hunt is a disgrace” then I realised the man in question was Chris Kamara.
Blissfully unaware of the facts Chris accuses Leicester of ruining Ian Holloway’s Q.P.R life despite the fact that is was Mr Holloway who approached his own board to ask permission to speak to Leicester.
He has criticised their approach despite the fact that the problem lies with speculation and leaked information, that causes the problem, not the approach. How does Chris want it to be done then? Leicester drive around to the club they want and bundle their managerial target into the back of a white van. At the end of the day if a manager wants to go he will if not he won’t, it really is quite simple and isn’t that they way every club has gone about getting a manager for some time now.
I’m not saying it’s the correct way but singling out a team for it is wrong, biased, offensive and rude and Chris is the one who should be ashamed of himself for stirring it up and damaging the name of football even further.
I for one half lost that last ounce of respect I had for Chris, it’s a shame cause for comedy value there’s none better at pitch side reports, however when it comes to the serious stuff he should really let someone else do it, for the good of football.
Well none of us really whats happened, not the fans or Kamara. Only the people involved know, maybe City approached Holloway maybe it was vice versa. Kamara clearly believes it was City who approached Holloway and suggested he was their main target, but it seems cos the fans weren’t hot on him the club have now abandoned the chase for him.
