Leicester fans will travel to Boston on Wednesday to watch the first of City`s friendly games. Although many Leicester fans will be looking forward to seeing the first glimpses of the new signings they will also have a chance to catch up with an ex-city favourite.

Julian Joachim now plays for Boston United after leaving Leicester over 10 years ago. Joachim started off at Leicester as a trainee and was an immediate success with the fans. His pace made him a handful for any defender and the little and large partnership he made with either Steve Walsh or Iwan Roberts saw Leicester reach several Play Off finals in the late 1990`s.

Although Joachim may have left under a cloud after following Brian Little to Aston Villa in a £1.5m move, most Leicester fans will remember the jinking runs he would make through the oppositions defence. He added an extra dimension to the Leicester attack and was a player who would make fans stand up in anticipation of what he was going to do.

Joachim now 32 years old is still scoring goals albeit in a lower league and has been given the number nine shirt by Boston for the up coming season, which shows his importance to them.

Hopefully those City fans that do travel to the game will get to see what the new signings are made of and also give a cheer for a Leicester old boy.

  • so much pace, so much potential. think he could have had it all. maybe a brain would have helped but i guess you can’t have everything!!
never forget his interview after winning at Sunderland on TV many years ago. ” Yeah, the ball were bouncing around like fu….anything, i done well to gerrit.” Priceless.

  • He did ok for us at Villa and scored a few vital goals. But you’ve got to laugh…he’s not the sharpest tool in the shed is he??!!
