Following today’s clash between Leicester City and Fleetwood Town, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Leicester City hosted Fleetwood Town at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday January 16 for an FA Cup third round replay, with the hosts taking a two nil victory at the second time of asking.

One talking point from the game was former Fleetwood Town striker Jamie Vardy appearing against his former side as injury stopped him taking to the pitch in the original tie at Highbury Stadium.

However, with Kelechi Iheanacho grabbing a brace on the day the clear talking point was his second strike of the match which was originally called as offside, before the Video Assistant Referee system awarded the goal 67 seconds after it hit the net.

Teams:

Leicester:

Jakupovic, Amartey, Dragovic, Benalouane, Fuchs, Mahrez (Vardy 81), Adrien Silva, Iborra, Gray, Iheanacho (Okazaki 81), Slimani (Albrighton 56).

Substitutes:

Hamer, Maguire, Ndidi, Barnes.

Fleetwood:

Neal, Jones, Pond, Bolger, Bell, Hunter, Glendon, Schwabl (Grant 72), Dempsey, McAleny (Burns 65), Hiwula-Mayifuila (Cole 65).

Substitutes:

Coyle, Cairns, Sowerby, Cargill.

Speaking to the BBC’s cameras a short time after match day referee Jonathan Moss blew the final whistle, Leicester City manager Claude Puel focused purely in on the first goal awarded by the VAR system.

‘The time was not so long to watch the video and take the decision. This evening I like the technology.’

Fleetwood Town manager Uwe Rosler in his comparative interview explained.

‘In general in Germany there are split opinions as it’s been tried this season. For me, some situations you can’t be 100% on VAR – is the decision right or wrong? My opinion is don’t complicate the game – it’s beautiful as it is. People try to make it different for some reason. I don’t like it, it interrupts the flow. Today we were on the wrong side but in general I don’t like it.’
