Holloway rumours denied by Milan

Rumours that Plymouth manager Ian Holloway is about to become the next City manager have been dismissed in a statement from Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric.

The rumours started earlier this week and with many City fans desperate for a resolution in time for the resumption of the Championship next week, they spread like wildfire.

Many fans were quite happy to think that the ex-QPR boss was on his way to City but chairman Milan Mandaric has acted to quash any hope the City fans had, saying:

‘There is no truth in the rumour. I haven’t contacted Plymouth and he hasn’t been in my thoughts about getting the job.’

This was also echoed by the Plymouth chairman who has no intentions of letting his well thought of manager go.

Mandaric, who has recently returned from a visit to the states, hinted that the next City boss may currently be in a job. Holloway fits the bill of a succesful manager wanting to make the step up but this would appear not to be the case.

So who will be the next City boss, Wigan look set to appoint Steve Bruce, which may leave many unsuccessful candidates available for the City post.

Paul Jewell, turned down an opportunity to go to Wigan but didn’t rule out a return to football and is rumoured to be interested in the Republic of Ireland job.

Joe Royle has withdrawn from the running leaving few confirmed candidates other than Peter Reid and Graeme Souness, who were interviewed some time ago. One can only assume that an appointment of either of those would have been made already if both parties were in agreement.

Fans will be hoping that Milan will make his move soon following his return from his break.
