New signing Dean Hammond has said he’s delighted to have an opportunity at Leicester after joining us from Southampton.

The 30 year old midfielder will add plenty of experience to the team having made over 400 career appearances and he trained with the team for the first time yesterday after joining the club last week for an undisclosed fee and signing a two year deal, and not only is he targeting promotion with us, he’s said he’s been impressed by the quality in the camp.

Speaking to the Leicester Mercury he explained that he had unfinished business in the Premiership after achieving promotion with Southampton, but not playing a game for them, instead being loaned back out to Brighton last season.

‘I feel like I have a little bit of unfinished business. I helped Southampton get to the Premier League and didn’t really get my chance, but that’s football. Leicester will be up there challenging, I have come to a club that has a good chance of promotion. If I work hard enough and we do things right then I might get another chance.’

Speaking to lcfc.com following his first training session, he also added about the club.

‘It’s nice to be here, it’s a massive club with big ambitions, a really good squad of players, a good manager and I can’t wait to get started. There are some top players here and you can see why we’ve had such a good start to the season.’
