Ahead of the weekend’s tie against Stoke City, young winger Demarai Gray signed a new contract extension at Leicester City and he’s now looking to establish himself in the first team and get far more regular action.

Having signed a new deal keeping him at the King Power Stadium until the summer of 2021, the 21 year old put his signature to a new four year deal and following his arrival from Birmingham City back in January 2016 he now has more than 60 appearances to his name in our shirt.

Speaking to lcfc.com as the deal was announced, he explained.

‘I`m very happy. Now I just want to kick on and keep doing what I`m doing. I want to be starting games and, for me to be doing that, I have to work hard in training. As a whole, we`re a good group and we have a good dressing room. Now I want to get my head down and keep kicking on for the team. For me personally, it`s now about developing as a player and the rest will take care of itself.’

Having been involved in all but one of our league games so far this season, it’s starts Gray is after and following his performance against Everton he got just that in the draw with Stoke and in a follow up piece he went on to say.

With manager Claude Puel clear on how he wants to use him, Gray knew he would benefit from that.

‘That will help me develop as a player, I want to kick-start and get some momentum with a run of games. It`s nice for me to know I have the backing of a manager who likes young players. In the long-term it will help me very well. I want to impact games and, most importantly, help the team win games. Staying here with the staff will help me develop. He will coach and help me grow into the player I know I can become.’
