Striker Matty Fryatt has put pen to paper to sign a 3 and a half year contract that will keep him at the club until 2012.

After weeks of speculation the in-form Fryatt, who has scored a hugely impressive 23 goals so far this season, has finally pledged his future to the club as they push for promotion back to the Championship.

Chairman Milan Mandaric (from official site): ‘I am obviously delighted that Matty has committed his future to us. He has been an important contributor to the success that we have had on the field so far and I am pleased that all his hard work on the training ground has paid off.

‘The contract negotiations were long and drawn out as you would expect – but there was never any doubt in my mind that Matty would sign for us because he loves this club. His heart is here – and he knows that after some disappointing years we are on the up once again.

‘We are currently on target to meet our objective of promotion and the fact that Matty has committed his future to us can only help us in that quest’.

Fryatt recently became the first Foxes player in over 40 years to score 20 goals before Christmas, and fans have been sweating on the future on the forward throughout the season.

Manager Nigel Pearson was also understandably delighted with Fryatt’s decision, saying ‘Matty is really enjoying his football and he has done very well for us so far.He is an exceptional young talent and I am delighted that he has committed his future to us.’
